the mero aesthetic
As big lovers of Japandi interior design, the mero style is deeply inspired by a mixture of [EAST x WEST]. Japandi takes material and elements from Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics to create a fusion style that is harmonious and tranquil. Minimal, timeless and function, we imagine meroware as design objects worthy to rest on mama's coffee table within a Japandi living room.
A muted palette and simple silhouette combine with a quirky "chibi" chubby proportions to create the mero aesthetic. Our fusion style referances elements from Japan and Scandi product design in a way that is familliar with a hint of surprise. We aim for each product to be friendly and approachable, yet refined and beautiful.
During concept design, the team will approach user problems with a mix of perspectives to discuss use scenarios. As food/beverage contents and their temperatures vary between cultures, the intended use affects the product's performance requirements. The team has round table discussions, including focus group of mama's to incorporate various view points. We approach from a blend of Western, Japanese and Taiwanese user norms to decide the balance of design points.
Because the concept of early childhood independence is still new in Asia, we aim for a minimal aesthetic outlook while keeping helpful functions. Anti spill and grip features are extra functions that we add that would not be found in a pure minimalist design.
The meroware fusion style is a reflection of the diverse backgrounds of the team who are a mix of cultures.
